Cultural event from the past: LIVE AID- Tere Pérez

The cultural event called live aid, were some very large concerts held on July 13, 1985 at the Wembley Stadium in London and simultaneity at the John F. Kennedy Stadium in Philadelphia, were held to raise funds to help countries of the East Africa, specifically Ethiopia and Somalia.

These were the artists and bands that performed at the big concert: Queen, Adam Ant, Status Quo, The Style Council, The Boomtown Rats, Ultravox Spandau Ballet, Elvis Costello, Nik Kershaw, Sade Sting, Phil Collins, U2, Howard Jones, Bryan Ferry, Paul Young, Alison Moyet, Bryan Adams, The Beach Boys, David Bowie, The Pretenders, Madonna, Simple Minds, Joan Baez, Dire Straits, Elton John, The Cars, Led Zeppelin, David Gilmour, Kenny Loggins, Wham!, Tears for Fears, Hall & Oates, Run DMC, George Thorogood & The Destroyers, Albert Collins, Bo Diddley, Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne, Neil Young, The Who, INXS, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Paul McCartney, Reo Speedwagon, Mick Jagger, Judas Priest, Duran Duran, BB King, Tina Turner, Bob Dylan, Keith Richards, Ron Wood, Cliff Richard, Ashford & Simpson, Teddy Pendergrass, Thompson Twins, Steve Stevens, Nile Rodgers, Patti Labelle, Eric Clapton, Crosby, Stills & Nash Santana, Power Station, Billy Joel, Paul Simon, Stevie Wonder, Waylon Jennings, Kris Kristofferson, Huey Lewis & The News, Boy George and The Temptations.

The great participation of artists made the event a great success and marked part of the musical history, showing the world that music could create awareness and help the people of Africa.
The collection exceeded 100 million dollars, the concert was broadcast live via satellite in more than 72 countries and was one of the most watched musical events in the world.
 On the occasion of this memorable concert, July 13 was declared World Rock Day.
